Estimates, not guarantees
Every cost figure on The Walkaround is an estimate, labeled with its provenance (estimated, owner-reported, or shop-verified). Actual repair costs vary by car, region, shop, and what the wrench finds when things come apart. Reports are decision support, not a promise about any specific vehicle.
Not a substitute for an inspection
Nothing here replaces a professional pre-purchase inspection of the actual car by a qualified mechanic. If you buy a car based only on a report, that was your call, not our advice. Always get a PPI.
Paid products
The negotiation packet and consult calls are informational services with the same estimate caveats. Consult scheduling and payment are confirmed by email after you request them.
Your submissions
By submitting cost data, stories, or invoices, you confirm they’re genuinely yours and grant us the right to publish the information in aggregated, anonymized form. We review everything before publication and never publish your identity or the invoice document itself.
Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, The Walkaround is provided as-is and we aren’t liable for purchase decisions, repair outcomes, or costs that differ from estimates. Cars from the 90s and 2000s are wonderful and they will surprise you; budget accordingly.
