About

Built for dealers who carry the paper.

When a car breaks before the note is paid, the dealer who financed it eats the repair or eats the repo. Every tool on the desk prices the car or prices the buyer. Nothing on the desk says whether this car, at these miles, is sitting where owners of the same model year started filing complaints. The party who eats the repair is the party with no tool for it. The Walkaround is that tool: one sheet per VIN, from the public record, with a repair set-aside for the term.

How the engine thinks

The math is deterministic. Every figure is computed from tables we load and can show you: 2.2 million federal complaints, with the ones carrying odometer readings turned into complaint windows; recalls; manufacturer bulletins and warranty extensions; federal investigations; and 26 repair categories priced as parts plus hours at a labor rate scaled to your state.

AI never produces a dollar. Research that has not been reviewed is labeled as such and never counted. What market data we hold is licensed, never scraped, and it does not appear on a sheet.

We never price the car. Keep MMR or Black Book for that. The sheet says where the miles sit against the record and what to set aside; the car still goes on a lift.

Who we are

The Walkaround is founder-run, started in 2026 by Patrick and Harrison. We answer the phone, print the sheets, and run every backtest ourselves.
