The Walkaround reads the public record on a used car and tells the dealer what it is heading into, what that repair runs, and what to hold back before the deal is signed.
Why it exists
A dealer can price a car and price a buyer. Every tool on the desk does one or the other. Nothing on it says that this car, at these miles, is heading into a repair that other cars its size do not have. When it breaks, the dealer pays either way: out of the gross, out of the note, or when the car comes back. We built the warning that belongs on the desk before the paper is signed.
How we work
Every number carries its source
A figure on a sheet names where it came from: the reports behind it, the units built it was divided by, the labor rate it was priced at. If the record is thin, the sheet says so instead of guessing.
The math is deterministic
The same car at the same miles returns the same sheet. Language models help read documents; they never produce a dollar figure, a rate or a flag.
Public records only
Federal complaint, recall, investigation and manufacturer-communication files, and licensed data where we need it. Nothing is scraped from forums, auctions or parts sites.
We never see your borrowers
A sheet runs on a VIN, miles and dates. No names, no applications, no payment history, by design.
Who is behind it
Patrick and Harrison, founder-run. We answer the phone, read every outcome a dealer logs, and publish what the flags got right and wrong once there are enough of them to count. Until then the product is judged on the record it shows you, not on a claim we make about it.
